The dollar menu is a very common thing nowadays. However, that doesn’t mean you should feed into your temptation to sacrifice your health to save a few bucks. It’s the American way to speed through the day and grab something on-the-go to satisfy your appetite, but it doesn’t necessarily need to be that way.
There are many ways to save money, but eat healthy.
The first thing you should do is figure out a day of the week where you could dedicate even just an hour or two, to cooking. If you spend 2 hours on a Sunday cooking with healthy ingredients, you could plan healthy meals for the week. There are many sites out there for healthy recipes, here’s one i found very helpful.

Buy in Bulk!
Buying in bulk can save you a TON of money in the long run. Not only will you save money by buying in bulk, but you’ll also be saving emissions by making less trips to the store.
Buy Local (refer to our previous blog entry). By buying local you get fresh ingredients which typically have less preservatives and are more healthy. You can also sometimes get these items cheaper when you buy locally as opposed to purchasing them from a chain store.
So next time you are about to go to the drive through, think about your health. A quick meal, isn’t always a healthy one, but it can be.
